En un video colgado en Internet, Nicolás Rodríguez Bautista, alias Gabino, primer comandante del ELN, señala que quiere retomar nuevos caminos de paz con la participación de todos los actores sociales, mediante un proceso de Convención Nacional y no descarta la creación de una Asamblea Nacional Constituyente. Gabino pide a Unasur su acompañamiento en este proceso de búsqueda de la paz en Colombia, se muestra de acuerdo con la facilitación de Gobiernos como Cuba, Venezuela, Suecia y Suiza y valora los esfuerzos de la Iglesia Católica con sus diálogos pastorales.
